It’s been 3 years and 2 seasons of autocross and finishes no better than 2nd place...but now it’s finally over! I ran a 39.612 right after the then-leading ES-leader set a fast 39.9xx. This white-knuckled run scored me my first class win in the Miata, so now I finally get my blue celebration cup to complete the set!

Really nice! I have actually yet to compete in AutoX... I tried a few times and was shocked at how much I sucked lol. Felt weird and completely different from what I was used on normal racetracks. I had to be everything I wanted to avoid on the track... Fast, almost brutal, yet precise, instead of smooth and light on the throttle.

I’ll have to give it a serious try though... it really looks like a blast!

I think track days would be my next step after I feel like I’m confident in my autocross skills. I’m still learning car control, especially with how oversteer-happy my car can get with enough throttle out of corners. For now it’s a great way for me to sharpen my low-speed skills and help me look further down the road/track/course instead of focusing on what’s right in front of me.

Congrats! Looks like the answer is still Miata!

Nice :) I must see if I can get something like autocross set up in the UK. There’s autograss which is on fields. Would be fun but is a bit more punishing on the car. Then there’s autosolo which is incredibly tight and uses both first and reverse gear. Not really my bag.

I’ve seen autosolo videos before and I’m not a fan of keeping it in first gear nor reserving backwards through stuff. The autograss you speak of sounds like rallycross over here! Miatas have been set up for SCCA rallycross and they’ve been kicking ass in the RWD classes.
